Le ministre de la Communication, des Technologies numériques et de l'Innovation, M. Samuel Nartey George (MP), has encouraged young people to pursue authenticity, resilience, and brand identity as essential tools for success in today’s competitive environment.
He delivered the address on Saturday (30-08-2025) at “The VL Exposure” event held at the British Council in Accra, drawing on personal experiences, professional expertise, and gouvernement initiatives to inspire participants. Reflecting on his journey from a university entrepreneur in the creative arts industry to a cabinet minister, the Minister recounted how he built his political identity around the “Dzata” (lion) brand. He explained that leveraging brand presence and turning perceived weaknesses into strengths had been central to his rise.
“People don’t buy products; they buy brand identity. The lion is not the fastest or the smartest, but it has presence. That is what I built my political campaign on, and it opened doors that would otherwise have been closed,” he said.
Sharing lessons from his early entrepreneurial career, Hon. George recalled pitching event concepts as a student to multinational firms, including MTN and Guinness. He stressed that understanding what one is selling and to whom is critical for success in every field.
On government initiatives, he highlighted the Programme "Un million de codeurs, a flagship project aimed at equipping young Ghanaians with digital skills through reskilling, upskilling, and new skill acquisition. He further revealed that the Ministry is spearheading a major legislative overhaul, revising 15 separate laws to strengthen the framework for Ghana’s digital economy.
“ Il ne peut y avoir qu’un seul Samuel Nartey George. Tout autre Sam George ne serait qu’une imitation. Mais avec un peu d’effort, vous pouvez devenir la meilleure version de vous-même. Découvrez ce qui vous rend unique et cultivez-le, car personne d’autre ne peut le faire mieux que vous ”, a-t-il ajouté.
The Minister’s humorous and candid delivery left the audience inspired to embrace innovation, pursue opportunities in the digital economy, and define their own authentic paths. He was later honoured with a citation in recognition of his remarkable contribution as a speaker.
