Ghana positions itself as a digital leader in Africa – Deputy Minister

The Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Mohammed Adams Sukparu (MP), has affirmed that Ghana is emerging as a leader in Africa‘s digital landscape.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), at the dinner and awards night marking the close of ICT Week celebrations at Alisa Hotels in Accra on Friday, August 29, 2025, the Deputy Minister said the event showcased Ghana’s commitment to embracing the digital future and driving continental leadership in technology.
The awards night brought together stakeholders from government, the private sector, academia, and civil society to share ideas, highlight innovative solutions, and chart new pathways for Ghana’s digital trade transformation.

Hon. Sukparu commended the National Information Technology Agency (NITA), its Governing Board, management, staff, and partners for ensuring the success of the ICT Week celebrations. He further assured government’s continued support through policies, investments, and enabling conditions to translate shared ideas into tangible impact for citizens.
He stressed that technology goes beyond connectivity, serving as a driver of opportunity, empowerment, and inclusive growth for every Ghanaian. He also called on stakeholders to remain united in building a secure, robust, and citizen-centred digital ecosystem. According to him, the awards night was not only an occasion for appreciation but also for strengthening networks and reaffirming Ghana’s collective commitment to a digitally empowered future.
