We put together the folloing data to help you with the state of the web in Ghana as of August 2026. Ghana&#8217;s digital economy is growing fast. Internet access, smartphone use, e-commerce and digital payments are creating strong demand for websites and other digital services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ghana&#8217;s Internet and Mobile Growth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By late 2025, Ghana had:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>41.8 million mobile connections, equal to 119% of the population.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>26.3 million internet users, representing 74.6% internet penetration.<sup data-fn=\"a0aa7560-b2a8-44fb-96bc-79f132514939\" class=\"fn\"><a id=\"a0aa7560-b2a8-44fb-96bc-79f132514939-link\" href=\"#a0aa7560-b2a8-44fb-96bc-79f132514939\">1<\/a><\/sup><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>8.6 million social media users, representing 24.4% of the population.<sup data-fn=\"adae99d1-5c06-4fab-8039-b1f90a1c3016\" class=\"fn\"><a id=\"adae99d1-5c06-4fab-8039-b1f90a1c3016-link\" href=\"#adae99d1-5c06-4fab-8039-b1f90a1c3016\">2<\/a><\/sup><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>49.5 Mbps median fixed internet speed, up 31% year-on-year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cheaper smartphones, affordable data and a young mobile-first population are driving this growth. Many Ghanaians now access the internet mainly through smartphones rather than desktop computers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SMEs Still Have a Digital Gap<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SMEs account for about 85% of Ghanaian businesses and 70% of GDP. However, digital adoption remains limited. Most SMEs use digital tools mainly for social media, mobile banking and basic e-commerce. Fewer use advanced digital tools that improve productivity and business operations.<sup data-fn=\"eff8d72d-8636-4933-81f3-303db08cb3cc\" class=\"fn\"><a id=\"eff8d72d-8636-4933-81f3-303db08cb3cc-link\" href=\"#eff8d72d-8636-4933-81f3-303db08cb3cc\">3<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">About 60% of supported SMEs have adopted lighter digital tools compared with about 50% of non-supported SMEs.
