Internet users in Ghana can now look forward to faster and more affordable mobile data as the government has announced plans to roll out the 5G network within the next six months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
La ministre des communications et de la num\u00e9risation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, a fait cette annonce lors d'une conf\u00e9rence de presse le jeudi 30 mai 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She disclosed that Next-Gen InfraCo (NGIC), the company awarded the 5G license in Ghana, is expected to launch the internet services across the country within the specified period, followed by expansion to other parts of Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Le NGIC, explique-t-elle, est un consortium form\u00e9 par le gouvernement du Ghana et sept autres partenaires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Il s'agit d'Ascend Digital, de K-NET, de Radisys, de Nokia et de Tech Mahindra, ainsi que de deux soci\u00e9t\u00e9s de t\u00e9l\u00e9communications : AT Ghana et Telecel Ghana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Selon le ministre, le g\u00e9ant mondial de la technologie, Microsoft, a \u00e9galement exprim\u00e9 son int\u00e9r\u00eat pour le projet et les discussions vont bient\u00f4t commencer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Le ministre de la communication et de la num\u00e9risation a ajout\u00e9 que l'entreprise sera la premi\u00e8re entit\u00e9 d'infrastructure partag\u00e9e \u00e0 large bande mobile 5G \u00e0 construire un r\u00e9seau 4G\/5G \u00e0 l'\u00e9chelle nationale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The aim of the introduction of the 5G internet services is to boost the digital agenda drive in Ghana\u2019s education, healthcare, and digital payment transactions, thereby reducing the digital divide and promoting financial inclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNGIC\u2019s equity will be held by the public of Ghana, Ascend Digital, K-NET, all mobile operators in Ghana and other private investors including the technology providers who may wish to join the consortium,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
